Action Kumar is the character I built for The Screen Patti, and it ran away from me in the best way. What started as a bit turned into someone people quote back to me on the street. Over a hundred million views later, he is less a sketch and more a small internet celebrity in his own right.
Bollywood plays along
The fun of Action Kumar is who walks in. Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and plenty more have stepped in for a scene and been happy to send themselves up. Each film sits somewhere between a skit and a real interview, and fans treat the drops like events, watching, sharing and arguing in the comments by the thousand.
The stars watched too
When we spoofed the Jolly LLB 2 trailer, the film's own lead shared it. Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi both posted the video to their pages, and the clip went on to get written up across entertainment sites.
